A to Z- Authentic Inspiration: Quilts #atozchallenge

Today's inspiration....  Quilts!

When I think of quilts I always think of smaller pieces of something making a bigger picture.  I don't actually own a quilt.  I wish I did, but there aren't any that have been carried down from one generation to the next in my family that I know of.  I hope I get a quilt one day.  I just think they tell such a powerful story.  Each piece, a part of this bigger picture.  There's sometimes a pattern, and sometimes not.

Isn't it the same with our lives?  Each piece is the part of the bigger picture.  We are so inclined to think that we have messed up somewhere a long the way.  Then when we take a step back, we realize that we have in fact just been directed on this amazing journey to make the picture called life.

I'm thankful for quilts.  I am thankful for how they inspire me to keep going in life, to piece each piece together, in order to make the bigger picture!

That's a lovely meditation for the day! You are right that sometimes the quilt pieces of our lives can be pretty puzzling and sometimes even painful as they are cut into shape, but as it nears completion we realize how all those things worked together to create a beautiful life quilt for us!

I created my first quilt for my sister using pieces contributed by friends and family (I got the idea from a wedding I attended), so I can relate to this post in a couple ways. I have since made a couple more for family members but not yet for myself.

Quilting is an art I greatly admire. I wish I could make a quilt, but I have no hand for sewing.

Beautiful post. It reminds me of a quilt my grandmother's friends and family made for her and my grandfather for their 40th anniversary. Each person embroidered a piece with a design of their choice and then their signatures. It was all put together by one of the women and came out beautifully. It is a treasure that is still in the family.
