A to Z- Authentic Inspiration: Lucille Ball #atozchallenge

I can't remember the first time I watched I Love Lucy, but I remember when I truly fell in love with it.  I was in college and it was literally one of those go to shows.  I just loved her.  I loved that she was funny, crazy, and that she wasn't perfect.  I think it has been her imperfection that has inspired me.  Her life was so messy.  It was splattered for all the world to see.  Yet I feel like she remained strong.

She was beautiful.  Her beauty showed through all that she did.  I am sure just as everyone she had her faults, but her story truly inspires me.  She made a way for herself as a woman in ways that no one had done before her.

I have loved learning more and more about her over the years.  Taking time to read about her, watch films about her, and just fall in love with her strength.  She truly is a woman worth being inspired by.

Do you have an actress that has inspired you?  Why, or how has that woman impacted your life?

It's been fun to find some of her old movies on TCM. It's interesting the character she played before she became iconic through her TV show.

She was one amazing comedian, and I don't think I missed seeing a single episode of I Love Lucy. I even remember some now and laugh.

I'm still trying to make it around to blogs I've never visited. Daunting! But I made it here today, so I'm patting myself on the back.

She was so talented! I also admire Barbara Stanwyck. Her characters were troubled and rough around the edges, but with such strength and humor!

Beautiful inside and out, I agree, but most importantly, inside.
Women who influenced me or had an impact? My aunt, who was like a mother. She never accepted excuses. Kept saying: your actions ... you have to own up to them.
Great post on Lucy. They have a great exhibit for her here in L.A. at Universal Studios -- a whole area dedicated to her.

Universal Studios use to have a great store dedicated to everything Lucy Ball. She did a lot to push TV to higher standards.

I felt that way about Olivia Newton-John when I was little. I think we all need those female role models.

I have always liked Audrey Hepburn. Not only did she have such a graceful presence about her, I like that she devoted her time to a number of different causes.

Thanks for visiting my blog today, Tawnya. I agree with the point you made about how things that seemed important to us back then are such small things now.

I absolutely LOVE Lucy! I find myself having "Lucy" escapades and moments of my own too. Thanks for this reminder. I need to dust off my old DVD's of her shows, watch and laugh!
