A to Z- Authentic Inspiration: Beauty #atozchallenge

Beauty inspires me.  What do I find beautiful?

The mountains against the skyline.  So majestic, so amazingly glorious in the stories that they hold.  Mountains inspire me to keep going.  They inspire me to understand that there is something bigger than myself out there.  Something that holds power and control beyond what I could ever know or imagine.

“And if these mountains had eyes, they would wake to find two strangers in their fences, standing in admiration as a breathing red pours its tinge upon earth's shore. These mountains, which have seen untold sunrises, long to thunder praise but stand reverent, silent so that man's weak praise should be given God's attention.”
Donald Miller, Through Painted Deserts: Light, God, and Beauty on the Open Road

The ocean waves along the shore.  Crashing, pounding...I find peace in the sounds that they make.  In the movement of the water.  Beauty in quiet and stillness when you are just gazing out and recognizing how very vast the ocean is, and how amazing it is to see the waves roll into the shore.

“Because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away.”
Sarah Kay

Nature is beautiful.  Especially flowers...they come in so many colors and intricate designs.  The variety that I find in nature causes me to stop and recognize the fact that beauty doesn't have to hold to any standard.  There are many different examples of beauty.

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable.
- Joseph Addison

These are just a few of the things that I find beautiful that inspire me.  Beauty I've heard it said is in the eyes of the beholder and I really find that to be true.  Yet I think that we have made physical beauty of people something that it isn't.  We have put so much stock on the perfect person and the way that the perfect person should look that we forget that beauty is most importantly on the inside.

The beauty on the inside that is what inspires me the most!  That is what gives me the desire to allow my inner beauty shine.

"The more often we see the things around us- even the beautiful and wonderful things- the more they become invisible to us.  That is why we often take for granted the beauty of this world:  the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds- even those we love.  Because we see things so often we see them less and less.
-Joseph B. Wirthlin

Is there beauty inside everything that we see less and less?

When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not. Georgia O'Keeffe

Your post is refreshing! I love the mountains and I have lived near the Pacific Ocean. Walking along watching the tide was a favourite of mine.

Beautiful post. :-)

I love the beauty of nature too. Especially the sea and sky. It never fails to amaze me when I look up at the stars at sea, no lights around to dim their brilliance. Awesome. :-)
